Honey from the rock is a gift, unexpected, precious. Poetry is also a gift, a process of giving life, nourishing others, offering encouragement in times of need and, most often, from our personal experience of everyday living. Honey from the Rock is a selection of poems with this capacity. Its purpose is to explore, reflect, and acknowledge how we are nourished in our lives, especially when - like honey from a rock - such reflections are unexpected, surprising, encouraging, and deeply satisfying.

Denham Grierson, a retired Uniting Church Minister, first had poems printed in his school magazine. Over the years in his writings and speaking engagements the occasional poem appeared, but only in retirement from thirty years of tertiary teaching, and forty years of ministry, has the time been available to focus on poetry, that access into the depths of our lives, as Denham describes it. There is still time for golf, family, and travel but they too are resources for writing poems.
